JFW Japan Creation 2010 Autumn/Winter will be held from tomorrow for three days, from October 7th to 9th, at Tokyo Big Site in Ariake, Tokyo. The main features of this show include an increased number of exhibitors and collaboration in the sectors of “Creation, Artistry and Commerce”, or so-called an inter-trade cooperation program. By virtue of linking with the key operations of JFW, various menus will be promoting both the booths and corners. The entire exhibition consists of 85 entries in the Business Textile Zone, 280 entries in the Promotion Zone and 5 entries in the Creator’s Village.
The main theme of the Trend Index Corner is “A Sense of Incompatibility >>> Originality”. Herein, 150 firms will be displaying a total of 1,120 items. The Eco Textile Corner will include 42 firms with 171 items.In the Designers’ Collaboration Corner, 12 brands will reveal articles created in collaboration with exhibiting companies.
The Best of TA-KU-MI has been totally renewed. The academic-industrial collaboration features Japan Tex-Promotion (Form Presentation), Creator’s Village, Forum, etc. Visitors can look forward to a wider variety of events and exhibition at JFW-JC.

  Best of TA-KU-MI Japan Quality, the Leader of the World

The “Best of TA-KU-MI” is the Grand Prix of JFW Japan Creation, of which the contents have been renewed completely. “Takumi” is a Japanese word for craftsmanship. The Grand Prix was founded to certify textile works excelling in both sensitivity and techniques, and to further develop the potentials of Japanese textiles as well as new and excellent designers. It also further supports the creation of textiles with an aim to promote activities inside and outside Japan.
The Grand Prix “Prize of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry”, Merit Prize “Prize of the Director-General of the Manufacturing Industries’ Bureau”, Student Prize, Winning Prizes and the Selection of New Talent Designers will be awarded at the final session. The prizes are selected from exhibits that have passed the first examination based on the viewpoint of novelty, contemporary features, originality, reproducibility and degree of perfection.

  Tex-Promotion “3rd Form Presentation”

Twelve groups will be disclosing collaborative works.

This is the third time the academic-industrial collaboration program is being held at JFW-JC.
“Form Presentation” has received entries from 60 groups (16 schools) in Japan, and after two examinations, 12 groups (10 schools) were approved to collaborate with textile manufacturers and produce works from their fabrics.
The theme this year is “A Spread of Finishing Expression”. Not being limited to print expressions, in order to realize the possibility of various textile expressions, the “Dye Village” was opened at JFW-JC 2010 Spring/Summer for exhibiting processing samples from companies. Students who were invited received inspirations and proposed projects. After examinations by a committee, 12 groups were selected to undertake their projects. With cooperation with participating companies, the students worked over their summer vacation to finish their works for the show.

  Guid Book How to Use the Guidebook

The hall of JFW-FW 2010 A/W is U-shaped and extends in two directions from the registration area. After registration, visitors are recommended to first proceed to the Trend & Index Corner to check the season’s trends and corporate exhibits, and then move around the booths. The guide book lists participants in Japanese alphabetical order, and the booth number can be found from the corporate name. When you are moving around the entire hall, the zone divisions and icon list shown on the hall map are also useful. The fabrics classified according to trend themes are also identified with corporate names.

The guidebook distributed at the registration desk includes lots of information including events held at the hall, the time of forums, themes, profiles of lecturers, etc. It’s useful and convenient for efficiently moving around the hall.
