FFORM PRESENTATION -Academic-industrial collaboration-

10th FORM PRESENTATION

Theme: < Evolving Denim > ‘Travelling Denim’

The academic-industrial collaborative programme; < FORM PRESENTATION >, which started in 2007 and aims to foster human resources for the next generation, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. This time, buoyed by cooperative support from a leading Japanese denim company in KAIHARA Corporation, new value creation was pursued under the ‘Evolving Denim’ theme. Thematic material included < Infinite variable denim > and < Travelling denim > as a fashion theme.

Just like an artistic touch or stroke, expressed wholeheartedly on the easel of an unlimited canvas, free to travel as far as our own thoughts, evolving denim with infinite potential will be targeted though a range of travel scenes as a design source; proposing new denim styles via key materials leveraging cutting-edge elements: ‘super-stretch’, ‘hollow fibre’, and/or ‘lustrous & lightweight’. The new denim styles created by students will then be displayed and presented at the fair.

Super-stretch denim – unprecedented and bringing expressive silhouettes to life. Outstanding stretchability for all active occasions.

A lightweight denim using hollow fibre. A cutting-edge compound material using cotton and synthetic fibre; providing functionality and texture which 100% cotton alone cannot match.

Thin, lightweight and shiny denim. With a silky lustre for dressier denim, great for even formal occasions.

KAIHARA DENIM STORY

The roots of KAIHARA lie in the Japanese traditional dyed textile known as ‘Kasuri’. They developed a ‘Rope Dyeing Machine’ as a first in Japan, accumulating a technique derived from the traditional ‘Bingo Kasuri’ and consequently succeeded in producing the first Japan-made denim.

It is no exaggeration to say that uncompromising pursuit is reflected in the ‘indigo’ of a denim maker. The unique and intense indigo colour comes only after repeated dyeing processes, imbuing indescribable profundity. The global and acclaimed reputation of KAIHARA denim is amply reflected in this background; tapping into the company’s unique indigo dyeing know-how. As a leading global denim maker, KAIHARA constantly breaks new ground in proposing innovative denim textile looking beyond trends, recently strengthening its active research and development and striving ever further to find elaborate and intricate nuanced denim in line with present-day diversified market demands. Infinite potential awaits at KAIHARA DENIM – leveraging abundant expertise and multiple raw material combinations alongside ingenuity of dyeing techniques.
