This
show is based on four themes. The keyword is “Japan Infusion” for
supporting Japanese quality proved by the heart and sensibility
of Japan. We welcome you with fibers, textiles and apparel accessories
originally produced by new creators.
In a chaotic society, what’s the truth we have to look at
directly? What should we do as fashion and textile producers? In
our days of a drastically changing world, coming closer or tearing
apart, what must we consider and protect? It’s the harmony with nature,
ecology spirits, and heart for seeking humanity. Let’s enhance and
stimulate our spirits, and try to cross over different cultures by
thinking the value of beauty, combining the aspects of design and
convenience, and linking technology and science.
Creations brought about by unpredictable surprise and joy will link and spread
to the future.

A clear pale tone gives spring freshness. Like a girl in her childhood.
Together with pop color patterns and rhythmical stripes. A group
of light and soft materials with silky gloss and transparent touch.

Enjoy an afternoon tea slowly, in a comfortable early summer afternoon.
Classy and adult. A transparent greige-like cool pastel color, like
drapes waving in the wind. A group of soft and cool elegance.

Calmness and strength of sunrise and sunset. This group includes
most dark colors among the themes. A loosely woven roughness, a rough
touch, hard denim. Energetic, yet chic, beyond the horizon. No nationality.

Natural taste of grass and no bleached ecru. Natural fibers such
as linen, cotton, and other natural fibers, and traditional techniques
such as “kasuri.” Recycled synthetic fibers of polyester and nylon.
Ecology expressed by fashion is a modest expression of the mode.

These four themes feature colors which suggest sounds, light and
breezes stimulating the five senses. Transparency associated with
light, brilliance associated with internal luminescence, and gradations
full of playful colors. The effect is dramatic. Color by color will
cultivate a cool spice. It's a magic of colors. Enjoy bright and
beautiful colors with a free idea. |

be held at Forum Hall East 2.

March, by exhibiting major brands in two divided parts, today and tomorrow. (Refer
to the attached list of brands.) Its speaker is Yuko Hirota of INFAS PUBLICATIONS
Fashion News Editor Section. The coordinator is Junko Nakade, a producer of INFASWAVE.
JFW is a public-private society organized in Tokyo to reinforce the international
competitiveness of fashion business in Japan, by promoting high-quality and high-sensible
textiles and fashion of Japan all over the world.
In 2005, on the 20th anniversary of the COUCIL OF FASHION DESIGNERS,TOKYO, a
new movement began by the designers for renewing and re-organizing the management
of the Tokyo Collection, and concentrating the show date and halls to strengthen
the power of Japanese fashion.
In June 2005, designers, manufacturers, and retailers were united to organize
the Fashion Strategic Conference (renamed on April 1, 2008, as the Japan Fashion
Week Organization). Thereafter, in addition to the traditional Tokyo Collection,
JFW in Tokyo is held, together with textile exhibitions and other fashion events.

Yoshiharu Kaihara, Administrator of the
Japan Fashion Week Promotion Organization
(in charge of textile
industry) |
Q: JFW-JC had been held
in May and December formerly, and this year you are showing in April
and October. Are there influences on participants?
A: The schedule was tight for each participant, but the opening was
smooth on the whole. In relation to textile trade fairs in the world,
opening in April and October seems to be more profitable for buyers.
Q: As compared with
the autumn/winter show, the spring/summer show seems to by participated
by a fewer number of companies. What do you think?
A: Indeed, both last year and this year, the spring/summer show seems
to be less crowded than the autumn/winter show. But we just began
the new strategy to open two shows a year, and from the beginning
we feared that the enterprises mainly operating autumn/winter products
may hesitate to participate in the spring/summer show. I hope that
the situation will be improved as we are continuing our new system.
Q: In the apparel industry, recently, the buying of finished products
is increasing while product planning based on textiles seems to be
less popular. With this background, the “Buyers Select Corner” is
newly opened. What’s the reaction?
A: It is a serious problem that the distance is becoming larger between
the apparel industry and textile-producing districts. It is primary
added value that we must design and manufacture on the basis of full
understanding of textiles. It becomes an engine to send our products
to overseas markets. It is widely known that the textiles of Japan
are highly evaluated around the world. But as you pointed out, it
is a fact that few apparel makers are going to textile-producing
districts. It is the aim of opening the “Buyers Select Corner” for
apparel and retail industries to encourage the buyers to be interested
in textiles. At the same time, the textile industry will try to develop
products from the buyer's viewpoint. When such a system functions
organically, Japan’s competitiveness will be reinforced.
Q: An expert in textile, must evaluate merits and demerits of fibers,
yarn, weaving and knitting, dyeing, and finishing, and it's so time-consuming.
A: I think so. From material to finishing, all steps are related
to the value of the textile, and no one can be an expert instantly.
Sometimes, experience is important, and this exhibition is a classroom.
Not only business-related people but also students can come to this
classroom, and study a lot. This is a rare and very good opportunity
to look at the actual textiles and products directly. We hope many
people will come and learn.
Q: Finally, may we ask your vision about internationalization?
A: It is one idea that we hold TFW-JC abroad. First of all, however,
we want to invite overseas apparel makers and media people to Tokyo.
At the same time, it is an important task to promote exports of Japan’s
apparel. We export not only textiles but also final products. This
is a great impact also for the textile industry. We have already
started activities in China, Europe and the U.S., and we are planning
to reinforce our activities, go that the global evaluation of Japanese
textiles will be changed
We hope to attract more overseas buyers than by holding JFW-JC abroad. |

“XFIT LYCRA” Fabric is denim presenting gentle fit feeling and comfortable
wearing sense for jeans, by flexibly reacting to 360-degree motions
by 4-way stretch. As it is resistant to chemical wash damage process,
and shrinkage, it can easily achieve appearance and touch of orthodox
denim. The firm provides fitting spaces at the booth, and presents
original bags to trying customers. |
|

Starting as an embroidery maker, INOKUCHI FASHIONART is now manufacturing
and settling original brand apparel including “GIGEI.” Not limited
to embroidery, persimmon dyeing and other items are originally produced,
and the textiles are highly evaluated. To meet the demands for textile
supplies, Inokuchi established a textile department to start textile
business. Textiles manufactured by the original secondary processing
and tertiary processing are attractive. For the first time in JFW-JC
exhibition, the company is preparing a full line-up of representative
textiles. |
|

Known as a total trader covering apparel sub-materials including
apparel materials, accessories, textiles, dyeing and finishing, post-processing
and labels. At JFW-JC, by the newly developed woven textures and
resin coating technology, the company presents “Moreless ML008” (interlining)
suppressing moire and resin staining-out. “Dye Beauty” is stretchable
by 15% (comparison with the company’s conventional products), and
has a beautiful color forming property (lining). Sewing parts “SRF-AP”
are also main features. The motto of the company is to manufacture
“what is needed, when needed, and how much needed.” By production
of small lot and wide variety, the firm has established a flexible
system to supply and support quickly and readily. |

TOKYO SANKI will join for the first time and introduce shape-retaining
tapes using plastics, instead of metals, for nonwoven bust cups for
brassieres. Usually, the bust cups are made of polyurethane materials.
The new product “QB-TEX” is made of polyester nonwoven fabric, and
it is as elastic as polyurethane. Full-scale sales will be started
on the occasion of “JFW-JC.” Shape-retaining tapes using plastics
are available in three categories, “Technos Tape,” “Net Tape,” and
“Techno Lace.” As compared with metal materials, they are lightweight
and rust-free. The material plastic is “Techno Rote” of Mitsui Chemical. |
|

ARC DESIGN PLANNING will introduce “Metal Coating Cloth.” This fabric
is a nylon knitted fabric, which is coated with gold, silver, copper,
platinum and other metals by plasma-discharging. Because of mesh
weave, the air-permeability is excellent. It is also resistant to
rubbing, and discoloring and fluffing does not occur by rubbing.
In addition to a mysterious in-depth color, the fabric is excellent
in electromagnetic shielding effects and antistatic measures. Bactericidal
to silver and copper, the fabric has a bactericidal function. The
original color and gloss are evaluated, and the fabric is already
used in wedding dresses, bags, hats, and accessories. |

Refresh With Dark Vinegar
Vinegar rich in amino acid and minerals has been traditionally taken
as a nutriment. It is said to help recovery from fatigue, make blood
flow smoothly, get rid of salt, absorb calcium, promote appetite,
improve coldness, and have many other effects. Its intake in everyday
life is limited, and dark vinegar drinks are now popular. Many of
you visiting Big Site may ride Yurikamome trains. Do you know the
dark vinegar bar counter within the station of Shimbashi at the start
of Yurikamome line? The bar counter offers varieties of tastes of
vinegar, including soybean milk, blood orange, tomato, carrot, grass
juice, and vegetables. It costs 150 yen a glass. Why not drop in
at the bar on the way home? Refresh yourself with vinegar. |
