![]() The < JFW JAPAN CREATION / Premium Textile Japan > events, both of which organised by Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFW), will be held on December 7 and 8 over two days at the Tokyo International Forum in the Yurakucho area of Tokyo. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Premium Textile Japan (PTJ) 2022 AW show will host 66 exhibitors (including three new entries) on this occasion. We are delighted to introduce highlighted exhibitors as follows: KOYAMA CO., LTD. <A-27> *New exhibitor A debut showcasing mainly natural fabrics KOYAMA Co., Ltd. from Hamamatsu City is a new exhibitor at PTJ. The company specialises in original and natural fabrics (e.g. cotton, linen), including organic items with a standout soft-finish texture, synonymous with textiles originating from the Hamamatsu region. Collection highlights include roughly finished organic linen, produced by optimising a natural linen feel and a casual look. Indian-made yarn-dyed corduroy with a soft texture, rare in Japan, is gently woven in India, while the cotton wool finished in their Hamamatsu factory retains a soft, warm and fluffy feel. The company also provides an online sales channel < La Toile / Fabric Shop > via their website for general consumers, via which they sell original natural cloths by the meter, to meet demand sparked by domestic science lessons in primary schools for example. They eagerly comment as follows: ‘We will strive to make more people aware of our original fabrics and boost our customer base by making our debut at PTJ.’ ![]() STYLEM TAKISADA-OSAKA CO., LTD. SECTION17 <C-52> *New exhibitor Standout design ability PTJ first-timers STYLEM TAKISADA-OSAKA/SECTION 17 come with the objective of ‘introducing made-in Japan fabrics produced in collaboration with many different textile regions and leveraging a high design concept as well as reaching out to new customers.’ They excel in gathering information, developing fabrics and exploiting a wealth of materials and references, alongside their textile stock service function. Awaiting visitors are originally designed and sustainability-oriented fabrics made of recycled polyester and cupro, alongside original jacquard items produced in a joint venture with the Hokuriku and Yonezawa regions. Compound fabrics, mainly of polyester, featuring design at the highest level and perfect for piece and yarn dyeing alike. They will also newly propose sustainable printing via pigment inkjet, for sharper colours with greater contrast, applicable to any kind of material. Finally, with the environment in mind, water is minimised when making these products. They expect the show to be a platform for new encounters with numerous visitors, who can get up close to their products amid the current diversification of sales channels. ![]() NISHIKAWAKEORI CO., LTD. / ICHITEKI CO., LTD. <A-01> *New exhibitor Promoting the potential of wool NISHIKAWAKEORI (Nagoya City) and ICHITEKI (Ichinomiya City) are also set to make their PTJ debut; aiming to boost awareness of their company and acquire new customers. With woollen fabrics and stockpiled grey fabrics as staples, they remain responsive, with great attention to detail and appealingly affordable production. Other specialties include high-quality animal hair products like cashmere, angora and mohair. On this occasion, they will be promoting their wool fabrics as part of efforts to ‘promote the potential of wool’ given its status as a ‘sustainable material from the perspective of carbon-neutral and biodegradable features.’ With a wide range of available stock, covering both grey and finished fabrics, they also promise swift and seamless delivery, however small the batch. Meanwhile, keeping their unit price affordable reflects their wish to encourage the wool textile industry. With a versatile repertoire, their products have numerous applications, from formal to casual, depending on the occasion. Their aim and priority in participating this time around is to ‘address new customers in various fields, including casual and athleisure, alongside existing clients handling heavy clothing fabric.’ ![]() AGEHARA VELVET CO., LTD. <B-64> Showcasing abundant velvet variations AGEHARA VELVET CO., LTD. (Chuo Ward, Tokyo Prefecture) is returning to PTJ. The company specialises in variations of velvet, all of which are produced on a one-stop basis from their Sabae City factory in Fukui Prefecture: from weaving to dyeing right up to finishing. The focus of products on show this time will be burn-out velvet items; typically thin chiffon or georgette-type, alongside those on a cotton base. Not forgetting soft-type velvets from the abundant grey fabric range, with drapability galore, a relaxing feel and short- and long-haired types to meet all needs. One more standout highlight from the collection: the crease-finished crushed velvet. Putting these items on show reflects their wish to ‘propose a wider range of velvet materials and textures, the scope of which includes rayon, cotton velvet and crushed velvet.’ And despite such a wide scope, encompassing fashion, interior, industrial materials and more, they have elevated expectations of attracting both ‘new customers and existing clients alike’ during the fair. ![]() KUNISHIMA CO., LTD. <A-17> Promoting unrivalled originality KUNISHIMA CO., LTD. from the Bishu region, after pioneering as the first Japanese exhibitor to grace the Première Vision event in 2002, have continued the trend ever since with regular twice-yearly participation, meeting stringent criteria in the process, including overseas sales records, possession of in-house equipment and product originality. With sales offices based in Paris, Milan and New York, they have been actively dealing with a number of acclaimed brands in Europe and the USA. They aim to enhance domestic sales channels by joining the PTJ on this occasion and will showcase mainly wool and linen collections, alongside a group comprising solid fabrics woven with three foundation weaves and tactfully accented with the seasonal colours, all of which durable, biodegradable and sustainable fabrics. Another highlight will be shibori (tie-dyed) fabrics via collaborative work with a long-established national craftsmanship technique of Arimatsu Shibori applied to their original high-density wool fabrics. Centring on a dyeing technique known as ‘kakezome’, the fabric is tie-dyed to cover oil or rust stain, while kasuri fabrics are woven slowly and meticulously using a shuttle loom to minimise the burden on both warp and weft yarns. The result is a warm and fluffy texture with a naturally uneven surface and the durability of a high-density structure. ![]() KOYAGUCHI PILE FABRIC <D-48> Seeking out new sales channels Seven companies will be exhibiting in the KOYAGUCHI PILE FABRIC group to showcase their high-quality pile fabrics and develop new sales channels. OKADA TEXTILE CO., LTD. will showcase pile fabrics using French merino wool (from Arles in southern France), while NIHON-HIGHPILE CO., LTD. will present a product using recycled polyester incorporated into the pile, with a fur-like long-shaggy look, as part of an SDG-centric approach. YAMASHITA PILE CO., LTD. is pleased to introduce its YP-85300 item: two natural fibres combined, comprising 100% wool for the pile and 100% cotton for the ground. AONO PILE CO., LTD. will showcase a three-dimensional velour jacquard comprising plain knits alongside 100% cotton pile with limitless patterns, while NAKANO MERIYASU KOUGYOU will be introducing NT-1310 or ultimate boa; eco-friendly material that is warm, lightweight, low-shedding and exceptionally breathable, stretchable and drapable. All courtesy of a rare knitting machine, with few others worldwide, with fabric pile braided on foundation yarns in a W-structure to avoid shedding. TAENAKA PILE FABRICS CO., LTD. will present a versatile and wide-ranging velvet selection, while NOGAMI ORIMONO CO., LTD. will introduce chenille fabrics; with up to 31 available colours and no right or wrong sides.
