The 24th Premium Textile Japan (PTJ) Spring/Summer 2024 fair, organised by JFW (Japan Fashion Week Organization), is set to be held from 24-25 May at the Tokyo International Forum / Exhibition Hall E-1 (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo Prefecture). This year's event will be on an even larger scale than last year's spring/summer edition. As we gradually emerge into the post-COVID era, the fair will host 74 exhibitors occupying 97.5 booths (*cf. PTJ 2023SS: 71 entries/92.5 booths), reflecting renewed optimism for the recovery of the apparel business. As we at JFW announce the trend seasonal theme, 'Memories to collect as we mark the passage of time,' we are also implementing a special project, 'What's Next,' to search for upcoming textiles that could potentially become the next bestseller. Here are some of the new exhibitors at PTJ. TAKASHIMA SARASHI (TAKASHIMA CHIJIMI) <C-57> A Refreshing, eco-conscious crepe texture for the fashion forward Takashima Crepe Finishing Corporation, primarily established by weavers of chijimi (crepe fabrics) associated with Takashima Textile Industrial Association, oversees the entire production process from embossing, scouring and bleaching to dyeing, printing, drying, finishing and inspecting. Originating in the Edo Period (1603-1868) in the western region of Shiga Prefecture, Takashima Chijimi is renowned for its distinctive embossed crepe texture. By twisting weft yarns more than twice compared to plain weave, an embossed feature is created, which minimises the fabric's contact with the skin and creates more space between threads. The result is a highly breathable, moisture-absorbent fabric perfect for Japan's hot and humid climate, with applications spanning underwear, sportswear and casual wear. The aim of participating in PTJ is to raise awareness of the company and the textile region while also forging connections with new customers. For this occasion, they present various finishing methods, such as abrasion resistance, softening with jojoba oil and cool-touch processing - all of which align with eco-friendly practices. FLORIA CO., LTD. <C-50> Premium-quality and high-grade lace As a lace manufacturer, Floria boasts in-house original planning and design functions, along with an integrated production system within their domestic factories. They produce premium-quality and high-grade lace using vintage embroidery machines. Over half a century of experience has helped them hone their production know-how to cater to a diverse range of fabrics. At this event, they aim to attract new customers and enhance sales with existing clients while promoting newly developed products. Items on display include the highest-ranked embroidery lace, wide lace made with extra-fine 100% cotton yarns and sustainable lace made with recycled polyester embroidered with recycled cotton. Takumi materials and Kiwami laces, on the other hand, are high-value-added laces that combine different fabrics and techniques, such as extra-fine and pure gold lamé yarns, shrinkage yarns, untwisted threads, thermo-cut and foil printing. <JFW Textile Online Salon:FLORIA CO., LTD.> https://jfw-textile-online.com/textile?user=369&lang=en![]() UNISON <C-40> High inkjet expertise As a planning company for inkjet printing, Unison seeks to acquire new customers at the fair. They have a unique method of creating products that cater to the demands of both craftsmen in dyeing factories and customers, supported by their high expertise in fabrics and the ability to create professional data through accumulated experience. They will showcase inkjet prints that offer endless possibilities for expressing various designs, rich in colours and ideal for full-colour printing. In terms of sustainability, they will exhibit prints using eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton and bio-based textiles. They are committed to environmental protection, taking into account the impacts on the natural environment and the life within it. Other items on display include natural fibre items (cotton and linen) suitable for spring and summer prints, as well as fabric suggestions prioritising colouring properties and textures from a printing perspective. <JFW Textile Online Salon:UNISON> https://jfw-textile-online.com/textile?user=362&lang=en![]() ![]() < Memories to collect as we mark the passage of time >
