![]() Photo:PTJ2023SS ![]() The 24th Premium Textile Japan (PTJ) Spring/Summer 2024 fair, organised by JFW (Japan Fashion Week Organization), is set to be held from 24-25 May at the Tokyo International Forum / Exhibition Hall E-1 (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo Prefecture). This year's event will be on an even larger scale than last year's spring/summer edition. As we gradually emerge into the post-COVID era, the fair will host 74 exhibitors occupying 97.5 booths (*cf. PTJ 2023SS: 71 entries/92.5 booths), reflecting renewed optimism for the recovery of the apparel business. As we at JFW announce the trend seasonal theme, 'Memories to collect as we mark the passage of time,' we are also implementing a special project, 'What's Next,' to search for upcoming textiles that could potentially become the next bestseller. Here are some of the new exhibitors at PTJ. UEYAMA TEXTILE INC. <A-28> Strongly committed - to raw materials too UEYAMA TEXTILE INC., a textile manufacturer, is based in the Nishiwaki textile region, recognised for its yarn-dyed textiles. The company offers an extensive range of services, from raw material and yarn selection to textile planning, all performed in-house. They cater to both domestic and international customers by selling stocked fabrics and are looking to expand their customer base by debuting at the upcoming fair. At this event, the company will showcase its original fabrics, crafted with exclusive yarns. These include American casual checkered fabrics made from 100% uneven-dye natural cotton yarns, washer-finished for a vintage look. Also on display will be items featuring sustainable mixed yarns of recycled nylon, polyester and cotton. Other highlights include two-bath dyeing, water-repellent processing and dobby fabrics with unique uneven surface textures like waffle and panama. As well as fabrics for product dyeing applications, woven structures will be incorporated into yarn-dyed checkered fabrics. TOKYO YOSHIOKA CO., LTD. <B-67> Bespoke jacquard fabrics Specialising in supporting materials, Tokyo Yoshioka Co., Ltd. showcases their original custom-made woven fabrics, capitalising on their extensive experience in woven-label manufacturing. These jacquard fabrics are made from 100% polyester using recycled warp yarns derived from plastic bottles. They can be tailored to customers' specific design and colour preferences and are available in small batches. Woven-label weaving machines enable a firm structure with fine yarns, so that even the most intricate of patterns can be reproduced with vivid clarity. Once the base data is created, additional orders can be easily made for any fabric in different colour combinations. Orders start from as little as 10 metres, with over 400 colour variations stocked at their factory. Two types are available: a thin type with a single-colour weft and a mid-thick type with a two-colour weft. They also handle OEM business for upcycled products by recycling customers' dead stock fabrics. ![]() KOHINOOR MILLS LTD. / Pakistan <A-22> Newly showcasing wide-ranging fabrics Kohinoor Mills Ltd, based in Pakistan, boasts a vast, vertically integrated textile operation with 2,000 employees and supplies over 75 million metres of fabrics to leading fashion brands and sewing factories in more than 20 countries worldwide.
