![]() < Premium Textile Japan (PTJ) 2023AW >, organised by the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFW), will be held on November 1 and 2 over two days at the Tokyo International Forum in the Yurakucho district of Tokyo. This edition of the PTJ show will be the 23rd to date and will welcome a total of 72 exhibitors (four of whom first-timers). Here are some highlighted exhibitors: SHIBAYA CO., LTD. <A-58> Focusing on new product development SHIBAYA CO., LTD. is focusing on developing new products and promoting its products omnichannel style over multiple fields to boost market awareness - joining PTJ is just one example. One thing they leverage is abundant and wide-ranging available stock, comprising natural fabrics with rich texture. Given the ever-increasing importance of sustainability, they will focus on meeting the demand for natural fabrics, while concurrently expanding their range pf functional textile synthetics. Rounding things off will be a bumper supply of ‘tried-and-tested and proven fabrics’, which the online customers particularly appreciate. The focus this time will be on sun-drying processing of wares which originate from the Hamamatsu region of Shizuoka Prefecture. This approach to fabrics both enriches their texture and reduces the amount of wastewater and/or chemicals needed, underlining the company's sustainable credentials. Other highlights will comprise wide-ranging functional fabrics with various properties: water-repellent, stretch, flame-retardant and cordura and – still on the theme of sustainability - recycled cotton, nylon, fluorine-free water repellency and more. Their intention is ‘to keep developing value-added products going forward, despite the severity of the cost hikes we face.’ <JFW Textile Online Salon:SHIBAYA CO., LTD.> https://jfw-textile-online.com/textile?user=39&lang=en ![]() SUZUKI BLEACH & DYEING CO., LTD. <A-59> Abundant variations SUZUKI BLEACH & DYEING CO., LTD. specialises in finishing techniques for diversified texture variations and shines out strongly for the ability to handle smaller batches and deliver goods swiftly. A regular PTJ exhibitor, the company has always made its presence felt and showcased a wide range of fresh finishing techniques. Topping the bill on this occasion will be raised cotton fabrics, particularly thicker napping-type varieties, which would typically include coats and pants that can be repurposed for autumn and winter. And the functional aspects will not be neglected either. Visitors can observe multiple processing approaches, each featuring the water repellency, ease of care, and antibacterial properties synonymous with natural fibres and underlining that not everything need to be synthetic to deliver. They have also been collaborating with other companies to produce fabrics, which involve combining their own finishing techniques with those of others and showcasing all of them when done. Scope to tap into infrastructure from other companies, alongside their own techniques, is key to their collective strength and ability to propose a growing range of new and unique textures. They sum it up as follows: ‘We see orders from apparel companies putting domestic production first getting lower year by year and this tendency - probably due to COVID-19 - is intensifying. However, we hope a new influx of customers will breathe new life into the market by applying our unique finishing techniques to help the fabrics stand out.’ <JFW Textile Online Salon:SUZUKI BLEACH & DYEING CO., LTD.> https://jfw-textile-online.com/textile?user=44&lang=en ![]() DAIICHI ORIMONO CO., LTD. <B-74> Advantage of quick delivery The textile producer DAIICHI ORIMONO CO., LTD., known for its high-density fabrics, wants to turn all eyes onto its trendsetting fabrics, particularly < DICROS > - a popular choice for outerwear. <DICROS Stock Sales>, an initiative to help meet the growing demand for faster delivery, provides wide-ranging product line-ups serving needs across the board, from standard to specifics, in multiple colours and stockpile sales. This amazing USP includes a choice of 20 original materials in up to 190 colour variations. Products on show this time around will include beautiful, lustrous taffeta using recycled and modified cross-section yarns and with outstanding outerwear properties; retaining elegant lustre and a squeaky feel. Alongside it, dry taffeta using 100% recycled nylon yarns and washer-processed for a creased and trendy dry-touch texture. Last but not least, dobby patterned fabric with extra-fine nylon yarns, standing out for its delicate uneven surface and dobby design, which is normally difficult to be woven. Adamant they are on the right track, this is their perspective: ‘Nowadays, customers are constantly acquiring new information from social media. Everyone purchases whatever they like, whenever they like, via their payment medium of choice. Our stock operation system is well adapted to this and, best of all, mitigates issues like excess production and mass disposal.’ ![]() FUJISAKI TEXTILE CO., LTD. <D-3> Presenting items including Hokkaido wool With over half a century of carefully nurtured insights since its founding, FUJISAKI TEXTILE CO., LTD., has a wealth of experience when it comes to planning and developing original fabrics. It also operates cooperative factories in multiple textile regions, with a wide-ranging product repertoire and scope to accommodate many quantities and varieties. For their stand-out selling point, look no further than fabrics that incorporate up-to-the-minute trends in cut and sewn, and woven fabrics alike, leveraging the latest intelligence from textile regions all over Japan. Highlights include the < F.EARTH Series >, a series of fabrics blending yarns of recycled cotton retrieved from raw materials of textile waste (e.g. cutting wastage) and organic cotton. Equally praiseworthy is the < Hokkaido Wool > on show - a genuine domestic variety made with from the wool of Hokkaido-raised sheep and spun in Japan. This is an environmentally friendly way of processing homegrown wool, which involves washing it by hand and sun-drying. The scarcity and specific texture of each variant underline its uniqueness and charm. Finally, the < Sport-Style Fabric Series > brings together a collection of diverse and functional fabrics offering a must-have range of properties: absorbency, quick-drying, low-odour, water-repellent and heat-retaining. ‘Despite volatile changes in fabric tendencies following fashion trends, we sincerely hope as many people as possible will visit and view our originally developed fabrics at the fair.’ <JFW Textile Online Salon:FUJISAKI TEXTILE CO., LTD.> https://jfw-textile-online.com/textile?user=177&lang=en ![]() YOSHIDA SENKO CO., LTD. <D-12> Further enhancing original propositions Wakayama-based YOSHIDA SENKO CO., LTD. have a dyeing factory that produces cut and sewn fabrics. Also at their disposal is a comprehensive processing system perfect for producing yarns, fabrics, knit fabrics and even clothing. Alongside the knit fabric designs, the cut and sewn fabrics mentioned are dyed and finished in house. Underpinning this edition’s collection will be mercerised cut and sewn fabric designs, knit fabrics produced on one of the few machines capable of inserting weft yarns and yarns and fabrics made of ‘banana fibre’ from banana waste – the ultimate sustainable option. Asked about issues, their views apply over and above the dyeing industry alone: ‘We are often unable to maintain prices unchanged when attempting to bring items back into production, due to soaring raw material and energy costs,’ they comment. At the same time, however, despite signs of recovery in the clothing market, consumers' stance remains cautious. And the end verdict? ’Sales are still rising for influential individual shops and although COVID-19 seems to have prompted a rethink of values and lifestyle, we have seen an appetite for clothes shopping re-emerge’. Reflecting their eagerness to introduce new plans and ideas that blend their accumulated insights and the latest technology at a single venue. <JFW Textile Online Salon:YOSHIDA SENKO CO., LTD.> https://jfw-textile-online.com/textile?user=78&lang=en ![]() < Creation for the timeless age > All aboard a temporal journey - envisioned through our mind's eye.
