INDEX[2] JFW SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS – TO BE NEWLY LAUNCHED

This edition will see the launch of a new project: ‘JFW SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT’, targeting the enlightenment and promotion of sustainable textiles. We are delighted to introduce exhibitors dealing with sustainable fabrics.

ZHANGJIAGANG AOYANG WOOL FABRIC CO., LTD. / China <A-53>

Certification acquired

LESERVOIR Co., Ltd., which deals with EC apparel/cosmetic brands, including < la peau de gem >, previously visited the PTJ fair as a buyer. On this occasion, however, the company will join the fair as an exhibitor to initially launch a woollen product by AOYANG WOOL FABRIC (China) in Japan.

The woollen yarn is regenerated material that has been recycled from clothing and knits by AOYANG WOOL FABRIC and currently applied via direct trading by major overseas/domestic SPA companies. Its sales debut will be via RESERVOIR Co., Ltd. as the representative agency in Japan, starting from the 2021 autumn/winter items and with the PTJ fair as the venue for its debut. ‘We have visited PTJ often to date and are convinced that it is the optimal fair to introduce our textiles,’ RESERVOIR explained their decision.

AOYANG WOOL FABRIC has acquired GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification and sustains a clear control system of product supply chains using recycled raw materials. ‘Sustainability has become common in the fashion industry and we hope it will proliferate in Japan too,’ they opine.

Thermore Japan / Italy <B-6>

A long-established ecodown fibre (insulation) manufacturer

The company was founded in Milan, Italy in 1972. It has been applying recycled polyester since 1980, making it a pioneer in the eco-oriented insulation field and it has been a constant presence at PTJ.

< Classic > is wadding made half and half from recycled and virgin polyester respectively, while < Ecodown Fibers >, produced from 100% recycled polyester, retains excellent bulkiness akin to down feathers. < Ecodown Fibers Black >, using fibres in its namesake colour, is a popular series in Europe, and makes white outers appear grey when applied to translucent outerwear, for example.

< Ecodown > is a sheet-like wadding material made from 100% recycled raw material and unlike fibre, which needs to be stitched, it offers free designability scope. In November, the company is set to launch the newly developed and bulkier < Ecodown Fibers 2.0 > item, alongside < Ecodown Fibers Light >, known for its lightness. PTJ will serve as the platform to announce the debut for both products.

NAGOYA SPINNING CO., LTD. <D-61>

Introducing < YA/E >

NAGOYA SPINNING, targeting sustainable manufacturing for the environment and people, is set to make its debut in PTJ, mainly featuring a textile brand newly launched in April, < YA/E >. < YA/E > stands for their eight commitments, some of which include ‘thinking of yarns’, ‘respecting connections’, ‘maintaining trust’ and ‘being original’. Their four key products comprise: < VINTAGE >, fully leveraging the characteristics of a traditional knitting machine to retain distinctly irregular and uneven raw material surfaces, < PERSPECTIVE >, blending different materials with particular finishing techniques for irregular/creased feels and seeking innovative designs and surface feel, < MODERN > as a clean and sophisticated textile and finally < SUSTAINABLE >, made from stringently selected raw materials as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible.

< SUSTAINABLE > textiles are made from raw material produced by reclaimed cotton derived from used clothing and recycled wastage, which is combined with virgin cotton and recycled pet fibre and uses eco-friendly upcycled yarn spun without water and apparently highly acclaimed in the USA and Europe.

TAMURAKOMA & CO., LTD. <D-56>

From consumers to consumers

TAMURAKOMA will focus on leveraging the PTJ event to boost its customer base; ‘We consider PTJ a platform to meet new companies with which we have yet to engage, so we have high expectations for the fair!’ came their eager comment.

On this occasion, they are pleased to showcase their new product; < C2C > (C2C Circulation Polyester) using recycled polyester. This material provides a circulative flow by recycling 100% polyester clothing to produce new clothing. < C2C > thus stands for ’from consumers to consumers’ in that regard. They plan to promote this key item for multiple applications: menswear, ladies’ wear and uniforms as well as highlighting its role for linings.

Apart from the abovementioned items, they will also showcase < comfeel > tricot material for shirting, produced by partly leveraging < C2C >, which retains water-absorbing and quick-drying properties and does not sag when worn thanks to limited vertical stretchability. This item has been applied by suburban-type menswear chains and a brushed (raised) type is also available for autumn/winter.

The company has also launched an eco-project; < ecoMA >, proposing recycled cotton and nylon alongside down fabrics.

LILY LACE INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD. <C-65>

Constantly following continuous sustainability trends

LILY LACE INTERNATIONAL has participated in PTJ several times to date, mainly showcasing raschel lace, but they will be emphasising sustainable fabrics this time around. As a raschel lace maker, they are set to showcase original patterned items, including: products made from raw material, Teijin’s recycled polyester < ECOPET >, lace blending washi and nylon, alongside tulle net among others. Besides the abovementioned, facemasks and eco-bags, both of which required for COVID-19, will also go on show.

The company has been dealing with sustainable fabrics since participating in last year’s Premiere Vision fair; ‘;Overseas buyers are keen on sustainable products and we immediately decided to meet demand by shifting raw materials. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we are receiving email inquiries from Europe about sustainable items,’ reflecting the ongoing emergence of overseas sustainability trends.
