JFW JAPAN CREATION 2020・Premium Textile Japan 2020 Autumn/Winter |
The two textile shows organised by the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFW); <JFW JAPAN CREATION (JFW-JC) 2020> and <Premium Textile Japan (PTJ) Autumn/Winter 2020>, will be held concurrently from November 19–20 at the Tokyo International Forum / Hall E (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo Prefecture). The all-inclusive textile trade show, JFW-JC, will host over 290 exhibitors (210.3 booths) including 20 new participants, while the business-focused textile salon, PTJ, will accommodate a carefully screened selection of textile companies and around 85 exhibitors (116.5 booths), including 10 new applicants on this occasion. Around 17,200 visitors were recorded in the previous edition, reflecting a growing number of buyers; not only from apparel companies, designers and/or trading firms, but also overseas, which is why the shows attract so much attention and are considered the most acclaimed textile events of their type and most representative of Japan. We are delighted to introduce a portion of new exhibitors for both shows. |
New Premium Textile Japan 2020A/W exhibitors: |
Proposing new products using organic cotton |
AVANTI INC. (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) are set to make their PTJ debut. The company was founded in 1985 by Ms. Chieko Watanabe (current Chairman) and conducts an integrated production system handling the full range from raw yarns to products. The company, which has participated in many overseas fairs including Première Vision and won wide acclaim in the organic cotton field, is equally well-known for its activities promoting organic cotton in Japan.
On this occasion, they will showcase existing fabrics alongside newly developed premium-quality fabrics (which will be released in October at their private exhibition). Furthermore, they hope to retain existing customers alongside those newly on board with a range of fabrics that remain eminently affordable without cutting corners on quality, according to their comment.
The company has been tackling environmental issues such as SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and plastic-free issues in seminars held to date and currently proposes the use of wool fleece in favour of the polyester alternative. They deploy linen for the spring/summer range and wool and yak for autumn/winter respectively, alongside developing prints for a wider end range. |
●UEYAMA ORIMONO CORP. <A-24> |
Providing cotton wool for outerwear |
UEYAMA ORIMONO CORP. from UEYAMA GROUP (located in Taka Town, Hyogo Prefecture) has participated in overseas fairs; namely Première Vision and Intertextile Shanghai. (Their official website is also bilingual – in both Japanese and English). Here, they explain why they decided to join the fair: ‘As a domestic fair, we rate PTJ as a business-oriented salon attracting numerous visitors.’ Their foundation dates back to 1948 followed by their local trading company; MARUWA SHOJI CO., LTD. in 1968. They have also established a group company; SPUTNIK CO., LTD., alongside a trading company; SHANGHAI UEYAMA CO., LTD. in China and are currently considered the leading corporate representative of the BANSHU textile region.
Beside 100% cotton, they also develop compound fabrics featuring cotton/linen and/or wool. On this occasion, they will showcase cotton wool, applicable to outerwear such as jackets apart from shirting fabrics, while remaining equally capable of proposing original patterns thanks to in-house textile designers. Their core product remains fabrics for ladieswear with unsurpassed surface feel and texture. Mass production can be handled in the form of special orders from 600m onwards and they also propose stockpiled sales encompassing 3,000 – 4,000 different varieties, each on sale from 1 m onwards. |
●STYLETEX CO., LTD. <A-13> |
Showcasing premium fabric for luxury coats |
STYLETEX CO., LTD (Chuo Ward, Tokyo Prefecture) has made its name as a producer of high-density yarn-dyed coat fabrics using threne dye. After participating in overseas textile fairs, including Milano Unica, their made-in Japan fabrics won wide acclaim. On this occasion, they will join the PTJ fair to ’cultivate new customers in the domestic market by their own sales,’
The company is equipped with in-house machines for dyeing, preparing and weaving – capable of across-the-board production, from a blanket sample of 1m up to a monthly batch of 100,000m and with expedited delivery. They have had many years’ experience dealing with luxury coat fabrics and specialize in yarn-dyed coat fabrics using threne dye; cotton, wool, silk and polyester above all. Threne dye is used for neutral tints and has excellent fastness to light making it ideal for coats and other garments with a longer shelf life. The company has acquired the <J∞Quality> certification and can also handle the stockpile for three marks.

●TOYOSHIMA & CO., LTD. <A-42> |
Focusing on traceability-oriented fabrics |
OYOSHIMA & CO., LTD. is making its PTJ debut in the hope of ‘cultivating new customers among major domestic brands.’
They are set to promote the traceability of their production processes after establishing a management system to trace the raw material used for yarn or cotton dyeing at the initial raw material stage. Pride of place in their range will go to woven and jersey fabrics centring on cotton.
To be precise; top- or yarn-dyed fabrics using organic cotton from Turkey will be prominent alongside popular items such as jerseys partially using organic cotton (mainly plain or interlock). They intend to show a varied range, from thick type to more appealing items and deal with stockpiled items in cotton, yarn and fabric.
‘What we hope to put forward first is our basic line alongside luxury items and we hope many domestic brands will procure our fabrics.’, they explained with considerable hope and anticipation. |
●MAKIMURA & CO., LTD. <B-82> |
Meeting customers’ demands and intentions |
MAKIMURA & CO., LTD. is a textile trading company dealing mainly in textiles for menswear/ladieswear, garments (OEM) and uniforms, alongside textile sales to overseas (i.e. exports). The Menswear Textile division handles sales of fabrics that are made to order as a general rule and required by customers from domestic department stores’ apparel and select shops. 90% of the fabrics they handle are Japan-made and they proceed to engage in productive collaboration with Japanese manufacturers from textile regions.
Their main aim in participating this time is to win over new domestic and overseas customers who would take their sales style on board. ‘We will propose various types of fabrics produced based on our long-refined and uncompromising manufacturing approach with our partners in Japan’: their convincing verdict.
Their exhibits centre on cotton, synthetics and wool and are inspired by high-density yarn-dyed fabrics – some of which compound – with functionality (mainly stretchability) and all produced by manufacturers using ‘unique’ techniques. |

●Shanghai Jihong Woolen Textile Co., Ltd. (China) < A-61> |
Showcasing items including eco-wool |
Our new participant at PTJ; Shanghai Jihong Woolen Textile Co., Ltd. (China), will showcase 100% woollen items and fabrics using cashmere/angora, produced by their parent company; Heibei Jin Kong Si Ba Cashmere Products Co., Ltd. (河北金康丝博羊绒制品有限公司). They are set to participate jointly alongside their agent in Japan; SHANGHAI CHUNQIANDAI TRADING CO., LTD. (上海春千代貿易有限公司) to present next season’s collection, which will target both new and existing customers alike.
Although their stand-out products are high-end woollen fabrics including cashmere, angora, wool, they have recently extended their range to include fabrics in the mid-price range. On this occasion, they will highlight; ‘eco-wool’, non-dyed material which retains a positive texture with the initial colour of the raw material as well as compound fabrics; 80% wool and 20% nylon, optimizing price and texture alike as well as attractively priced synthetics that still retain that luxurious feel. |
