JFW JAPAN CREATION 2019・Premium Textile Japan 2019Autumn/Winter

Japan’s biggest total textile show; ‘JFW JAPAN CREATION 2019’ (JFW-JC) and the ‘Premium Textile Japan 2019 A/W’ (PTJ) salon, featuring strictly screened exhibitors and organized by JFW (the Japan Fashion Week Organization), will be held concurrently at the Tokyo International Forum over two days: Nov. 21-22, 2018.

Tackling sustainability - Part 3

The global fashion trend toward ‘sustainability’ is an area more and more JFW-JC and PTJ exhibitors are addressing. We are now pleased to bring you Part 3, introducing such highlighted exhibitors.

HATAOKA CO./ASUWA KOGYOSYO B-25

Earth-friendly

’We expect great success this time as we will be showcasing fabrics that have evolved further from those that were launched in the previous edition. For nearly a decade now, we have been producing recycled polyester on an ongoing basis, which has finally been acknowledged by the fashion industry’, comments HATAOKA CO./ASUWA KOGYOSYO.

On this occasion, the company will showcase items including < TACTUS >, a two-way stretch fabric comprising triacetate, friendly to the natural environment and a processed compound yarn using Japan-made polyurethane, alongside the newly launched < TACTUS BIS > product in an effort to expand sales for athleisure applications.

Their range will also include < SUPER HERITAGE >; a compound textile combining triacetate and specific polyester, revisiting the origin. We tried to merge previously reputed fabric and newly developed functional polyester fabric using the present thread axis, while a fresh range of fabrics using recycled polyester yarns is also set to go on show.

The company production centres on raw yarns made in Japan in principle. Twisting yarns and weaving are all managed in their in-house factories, while dyeing and finishing are managed only by two other cooperative factories. SDGs have been adapted for their factory management.

ANONO PILE CO., LTD. expects ‘visitor acclaim’ from those attending the PTJ venue.

NISHINO LEATHER CO., LTD.

NISHINO LEATHER CO., LTD., representing the TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT, will showcase eco-leather products. The company has acquired the ‘Japan Eco-Leather Standard’ certificate for its pigskin; enacted by the Japanese Association of Leather Technology (JALT) and the Tanners’ Council of Japan.

The requirements to be eligible for the standard are:
    1) Genuine leather
    2) Leather made in a factory that legally handles its wastewater and solid waste
    3) Leather that excludes substances harmful to health and the environment
(* e.g. offensive odour/chemical substances such as formaldehyde, heavy metal etc.) alongside leather that meets certain standards for colour fastness in response to rubbing.

‘Our pigskin products are the only material that can be self-supported in Japan; all of which are produced within the Tokyo Metropolitan district. Our constant and daily approaches, including environmental measures and/or product development, can amply reflect what we produce. We have been striving to tackle manufacturing based on global standards in line with our traditional method.’ At the JFW-JC fair, the range of show will include the following eligible items: tanned pigskin, pig suede (in pure white) and pigskin nappa (unfinished leather).
