We are pleased to announce that our concurrent domestic shows; <JFW JAPAN CREATION 2018> and <Premium Textile Japan 2018 Autumn/Winter> took place over two days on Nov. 28-29, 2017 and ended with great success. We would like to extend our sincere thanks for all the numerous visits to the Tokyo International Forum venue.
In the apparel market, the sale of wadded coats started in October, followed by wool and down coats, which were selling in earnest in November. We hope this ongoing consumption of winter clothes will spark a recovery in the fashion apparel industry, which is said to face severe circumstances.
On this occasion, the concurrent JFW-JC and PTJ shows both ended successfully; recording an increase of 10% from the previous year in terms of visitor numbers from the first day and ending with a total outperforming the number for the previous year over two days, reaffirming their status as Japan’s largest textile events held at Tokyo International Forum. We believe that most exhibitors were satisfied judging from their feedback; ‘Visitors increased’, ‘More business negotiations attained than the previous year’. Similarly, at JFW-JC, the overseas pavilion exhibitors from Korea and Taiwan were satisfied: ‘We want to double the scale of participation next year’, indicating successful business results and showing a high level of satisfaction. Apart from major apparel/trading companies and/or retailers, numerous visitors from the emerging sector of apparel/maison-related buyers visited our fairs. This underlines how our shows provide an ongoing platform on which to showcase newly developed fabrics from exhibitors featuring high technicity; including small- and medium-sized manufacturers from all over the country with high-level skills and techniques as well as the major players. We must continue to meet such high visitor expectations by providing constant development and propositions.
The academic-industrial collaborative programme for human resource development; ‘11th FORM PRESENTATION’ was held at the lobby gallery. With supportive cooperation extended by ASAHI KASEI CORPORATION, students representing 7 schools/8 groups presented works created under the ‘Bemberg’ theme and attracted numerous visitors, while the PTJ’s related programme; ‘Textile Workshop – Let’s learn Japan fabrics!’ took place with lectures on Japan textile-producing regions and encompassing elements of price/lot/lead time & delivery time. The lectures on jacquard (Kiryu Region) and velvet (Fukui Region) were equally well received with high attention and evaluation.
A textile salon, the <Japan Textile Salon in NYC>, organised by JETRO (Secretariat: JFW) will be held on Jan. 17-18, 2018 in New York, USA, featuring 22 companies. Other overseas shows are also planned including ‘The Japan Observatory at Milano Unica 2019SS’ from Feb. 6-8, 2018 in Milan, featuring 34 companies/associations, followed by a show to be held in Shanghai, China; ‘Japan Pavilion at Intertextile Shanghai’, in which 20 companies are expected to participate.
The next domestic show; <Premium Textile Japan 2019Spring/Summer> will be held over two days from 9 May, 2018 at the Tokyo International Forum/Hall E. Thank you for your continued support.
