YAMAZAKI VELVET CO., LTD. (Fukui Region)
                                             Booth: J-58~62/J-87~90

Promoting the Velvet Universe

YAMAZAKI VELVET CO., LTD.; highly acknowledged and largely applied by leading domestic/overseas designers for its velvet, featuring abundant sensitivity. Certain items in their range products are permanently preserved at MOMA (The Museum of Modern Art), NYC and they have earned a global reputation for technicity and creative sensitivity. Recent years have seen redoubled efforts to improve materials such as silk or linen, the yarns of which are prone to splitting or damage, using mainly shuttle looms. They have also repeatedly renovated in-house by taking ample time to develop original velvet, which has attracted attention for its exclusively original creation.

Their newly developed product for sale is ‘spun cupro velvet’ available in two types; one made in 100% cupro for both pile and ground and the other composed of cotton (for ground) and cupro (for pile), both of which retain a soft, muted and lustrous feel - a new medium-thick material – ideal for outerwear like jackets.

The other product is ‘polyester fused yarn velvet’. While fused yarn is used for weft yarn of the ground part, cupro/rayon is applied for the pile part – offering an unprecedented sheer and transparent texture. This new fabric on show boasts offers the required stiffness alongside well-tailored visuals, exploiting fused yarn to optimal effect. A new and unique velvet universe making its global debut alongside the pre-existing range and silk or linen with even more variation in colours.

MIWA CO., LTD. (Kiryu Region) Booth: B-77

Textiles awash with decorative variation

MIWA CO., LTD. provides a wealth of decorative textiles featuring uniquely designed elements, including uneven and lustrous surfaces. The scope on show goes from weaving to prints fully leveraging flock/glitter prints made with in-house machines and supported by the background history of KIRYU, the acclaimed textile region. Intricate textiles, including combined jacquard/print products, which only well-established companies with everything already in house can offer. Leveraging the advantage of truly unique development ability and incorporating contemporary trends into production.

For the 2018/19 Autumn/Winter season, they propose fabrics that are made by combining special processing including trendy flock print. Their No. 1 recommendation is the 3D-like fabric made by shrinkage. Equally appealing is the chiffon fabric partially flock printed – awash with a craft-feel, breathing in air as floral patterns are created all over the fabric. Chambray chiffon – layered by rubber prints creates an undulated uneven surface aspect with iridescent tonality appearing dispersedly.
