INDEX[4]JPIGGY’S SPECIAL - PIG SKIN FASHION SHOW -

Fashion shows will be held representing the most notable and hottest two designers as well as students of 12 specialist fashion schools, highlighting the diverse charm and potential of the latest pigskin collections created in ‘Tokyo’; the biggest pigskin producing region in Japan.

Participating designer SHIROMA commented as follows: ‘My aim was to bring out the charm of leather’s moist softness by exploiting the grain side; normally used as suede’ while the other designer, LOKITHO, commented ‘I sought to pursue infinite potential by tie-dyeing the material by hand; maximising the tender pigskin feature as well as fully leveraging techniques, glossy/foil finishing and embroidery.’

The show will be held at D7 of the ‘JFW Japan Creation 2018’ venue and the materials used in the collections will be available at the < TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT> (Booth No. J-01) to see and touch on site.

Creating ‘Future Comfortable Beauty’

The academic-industrial collaborative programme; <FORM PRESENTATION>, which started in 2007, aims to foster human resources for the next generation. This time, with cooperative support by ASAHI KASEI CORPORATION (Fibers & Textiles SBU), efforts to create new value were made under the theme; ‘Comfortable, functional fabrics for the future’. The thematic core material is <Bemberg®> (= cupro), a totally unique material, of which ASAHI KASEI CORPORATION is currently the sole producer, impossible to replace by any other naturally derived fibre and a premium multifunctional item, encompassing variegated expressive surfaces according to applications. This new style for the near future created by students reflects an abundance of wide-ranging ideas, leveraging both the beauty and functionality of the material and to be displayed and presented at the fair.
