INDEX[1]Interstoff Asia Essential - Post Show Report -

photo_Interstoff Asia essential 01
"Interstoff Asia Essential - Spring 2010"(IAE) was held from March 17-19, 2010, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, featuring 271 mainly Asian exhibitors, including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. A total of 11 companies from Japan participated in seeking the potential to expand their sales networks, including: JFW-JC/Ganno Company Co., Ltd. / Ishinco Ltd. / Joint Bishu Brand / Kyocera Corporation / Sunwell Co., Ltd. / Taiyo Sen-I Co., Ltd. / Teijin Fibres Ltd. / Toray ACS Inc. / Uni Textile Co., Ltd. and Yagi & Co., Ltd.

In Hong Kong, host and the hub of Asia, home to purchasing offices from all over the world, the fair attracted 6,800 visitors from 42 countries.

Among several textile exhibitions organised by Messe Frankfurt, IAE is the only one with a clear focus on 'eco and functional fabrics' - the mainstreams of the current trend, with a compact yet functionally organised structure, boasting unrivalled clarity and comfort for all walking around the booths. "We feel that the average stay (length) of each visitor at the venue is longer than the previous show", commented the Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK), which reflects the recent economic recovery of Hong Kong, as well as the tendency for overseas buyers to take longer to check the fabrics on show in a very serious manner.

JFW-JC participated in the fair this time as a preview to our own show in Tokyo,Japan in April, setting up a trend corner as a miniature of the latter. Aiming to encourage overseas visitors to our own show, we promoted it to some 900 visitors by distributing our catalogues/guide books with polite explanations, eventually guiding them to our registration.

Comments on our fabrics from visitors to our PR booth included those reflecting their reputation such as 'Premium quality, refined design, and high technique',
however, it equally meant 'the Japanese fabrics are premium but costly', with a strong impression of prejudice. The fabrics that attracted most attention at our JFW-JC boot included delicate lace with varied appearance, extra fine fabrics that personified the scope of a poetic universe, and knit fabrics as the essence of global trends, reflecting the mood of the spring/summer season.

Through this participation at IAE, we realised the need to promote our Japanese fabrics to remain competitive cost-wise and link to actual business by eliminating the prejudice of 'costly fabrics', which was a precious lesson.

We are now in the final stages of preparation as the JFW-JC2011 S/S show approaches. Outdoor shooting of the trend guide book - to be distributed to visitors at the venue - took place on Thursday 4 March. Unlike the cold air pervading outside, the atmosphere inside the studio was filled with a new collection of light-emitting fabrics, bathed in the luminescent allure of spring-summer.

"I see improvements, especially with eco-fabrics" commented Ms. Sachiko Inoue, directing the trends while shooting the fabrics submitted by the exhibitors, "I see fairly sensitive expressions, a thorough styling attitude to promote uniqueness, and even the sleek expression of eco-fabrics crossing over fashion, that makes me feel the great potential during the fabric shooting."

"This time, I prioritised the colour balance in particular. I would like the visitors to sense the colours, so I will arrange a Trend Index Corner display, allowing all to relax and enjoy with all the beautiful colours on show", she continued. Obviously you will encounter something different this time. Look forward to the outcome!

SHINMAI Creator’s Project

The"SHINMAI Creator's Project" is a special project, launched last year as an organisational strategy to make 'JFW in Tokyo' the gateway to success for young designers.

"SHINMAI", meaning 'fresh rice' in Japanese, refers to the idea that the fresh part of the season, full of vitality, can be used as a metaphor for young talent bursting with potential. The purpose of this project is to provide a foothold into the Japanese fashion market for talented young designers, both domestic and foreign, seeking to introduce their brand / fashion in Japan. Designers with less than ten years of experience, who have received recommendations from professionals/journalists of fashion schools are eligible.
Five brands were selected in the 1st , and four brands in the 2nd project among the entries from more ten global nations, and were introduced in the show during the Tokyo Collection Week as well as in a business-salon style format.
The following four brands will be presented at the venue of the JFW-JC 2011 S/S:

INDEX[3]Introduction to new exhibitors at JFW-JC

Introducing the companies set to make their debuts at our JFW-JC Spring/Summer 2011 Fair(21 - 23 April, 2010).

photo_POLI TAPE JAPAN INC.
POLI TAPE JAPAN INC.
[Inaugural appearance of the Leading Rubber Sheet Maker, supplying products to 83 countries worldwide]

POLI-TAPE Klebefolien GmbH, with its head office and own factories in Germany, is a leading global company, supplying a range of polyurethane rubber sheets and industrial adhesive tapes to more than 83 countries worldwide.

POLI TAPE JAPAN Inc., a member of the POLI TAPE company group, is the sole official supplier of the products in the Far East, providing polyurethane rubber sheets for printing T-shirts, and inkjet printing, flocking products for thermal printing and various other application tapes exclusively for Japanese markets since 2005.

>>> Our main products : Poli Flex Premium / Poli Flex Image / Poli Flex Fashion Poli Flex Flock-out / Poli Flex Printable / Poli-flock / Poli Flock / Poli Tack
… seen all around the sporting world, including soccer kits in Europe, as well as the textile and tent industries.

At the JFW-JC fair, we will enhance promotional activities centring on the < POLI FLEX FASHION > product, which was originally developed for apparel, instead of promoting other products to the sporting industry such as original T-shirt shops up to last year (representing the 5th anniversary since their foundation). Apart from the wide range of stock, covering some 140 kinds of sheets, we also provide various patterns, including animals, spangles or denim, introducing the finishing companies alongside.

OKAMOTO LEATHER CO.
[Unique expressive techniques on imported raw materials]

OKAMOTO LEATHER CO. is a leather tanning company, and also a material processing maker especially for apparel, founded in 1955. Our speciality is a soft-touch finishing technique for apparel, covering a wide range of raw materials including calf, kip skin, sheepskin, wool/hair sheep, goats, and horses. We cannot avoid the so-called high-cost problem, which affects many domestic products, as our company provides 'materials' rather than secondary products. On the other hand, low-priced mass-produced overseas goods all look more or less the same, lacking the aesthetic originality so sought after by apparel companies. The market needs uniquely finished products at reasonable prices, hence we import low-cost overseas materials and subsequently apply unique premium techniques of finishing to promote the difference. We propose our originality, by expressing an antique ambience through dyeing and washing methods, following treatments such as ironing and/or oiling.

RAKAM CO.,LTD.
[Boundless potential - through the thermal bonding of 'MUKARA' embroidery]

Our company focuses on the planning and processing of embroidery, with the manufacture and sale of our own originally developed product, 'MUKARA' embroidery items (thermal bonding embroidery). This MUKARA embroidery can solve ancient problems through premium embroidery and also enable the addition of new finishing techniques.

Our strong sales points include >>> High reproducibility / No risk of pin-holes, puckering / No visible trace of embroidered backs (hence safer for newborns) / New finishing possible, including >> inkjet • napping / embroidery finishing - possible at sewing factories (quick response) / Sales method with customised items.

We would like to introduce our unique 'MUKARA' embroidery product through this inaugural participation at JFW-JC, to promote its beauty, safety, functionality, and expressive potential and communicate details of the 'MUKARA' product to as many new customers as possible. We would be delighted if visitors were to rediscover unique techniques originating in Japan, since we believe meticulous handwork can enhance the potential for Japanese creation as well as the chance for new business development.
